Dana is from Peru, a small town in northern New York, it is about 60 miles south of Montreal Canada. He graduated from Peru Central High school in 1979 as a highly touted football player and wrestler. Dana went to college at the State University of New York College at Cortland, where he continued to play football and wrestle. He earned both a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s of Science in physical education while at Cortland. Dana taught at a school for wayward adolescents for 18 months before taking a teaching job at Dryden High School in Dryden New York. Wanting a warmer climate and better golf, Dana moved to Mesa Arizona in 1987. For the past 30 years, he has been teaching and coaching thousands of Arizona’s youth at Mesa Public Schools. During this time Dana has been a very active member of the Sons of the American Legion. He is a six time past Commander as well as a longtime member of the state finance committee for the Sons of the American Legion, Detachment of Arizona.
Dana and his beautiful and dedicated wife, Katrina, have three grown boys in their combined family. Katrina and Dana hope to see their boys carry on the Masonic family tradition. Dana is a legacy member of both Free Masonry and Shriners International through his father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Dana’s mother was also a 60 year member of the Eastern Star. Dana was raised as a Master Mason in Mesa at Oriental #20 in `2005 and walked the hot sands as a new Noble later that year in Lake Havasu. Dana is a three time past president of the El Zaribah Motorcycle Unit, and has been a member of the drill team since its beginning. As a member of the leadership team Dana is focusing on service leadership and the needs of our Temple, our Nobility and our Shrine Kids. Dana and his wife, Lady Katrina, take every opportunity to enjoy fun and fellowship with the El Zaribah Shrine family.
