What Shriners Do
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 Hospitals providing orthopedic, burn, cleft palate and spinal cord injury care. Shriners Hospitals for Children, also known as the “Worlds Greatest Philanthropy” has been in existence since 1922 and has been responsible for improving the quality of life for more than 1,000,000 children. We are presently treating over 175,000 children at our hospitals and outreach clinics and right here at El Zaribah Shrine we have over 2,000 children on our roles from throughout Arizona and Mexico. All of our care is provided in a family orientated environment regardless of their ability to pay and no matter what race, creed, color, national origin or financial status.
The Shrine Hospitals have a three-fold purpose: TREATMENT---to save children’s lives and restore their bodies to the highest level of usefulness; RESEARCH---to conduct research into orthopedic and burn care; TEACHING---to train physicians and other medical professionals about care and treatment of orthopedic disabilities and burn injuries.
