Together We Can Make A Difference

Phil Houghton, Potentate 2010It is an honor to have the opportunity to represent EL Zaribah Shrine as the 114th Potentate. We have a long and storied history that we should be very proud of. We do a great job of fulfilling the Mission of the Shriners by being The Premier Fraternal Organization for men of good character. We have been and will be committed to providing quality programs and services for the members of our organization and their families. This is done in an effort to provide quality fraternal relations and foster the spirit of having fun. We do all this and provide our members with opportunities to improve themselves with leadership opportunities, education and community involvement.

As members of EL Zaribah Shriners, we also take a lot of pride in supporting the 22 Hospitals for Children that have been developed by the Shrine organization. We help children on a daily basis to make their lives better and overcome the difficulties they encounter. It is an honor to be able to assist the 2000 children that we reach through EL Zaribah and help provide them with transportation to and from our hospitals, clinics and so on. Our children are truly a guiding light in what we do.

No one person can do these things alone. It requires the support of many people and thus the focus for 2010. Together we can make a difference. By combining our resources, talents, abilities and efforts, we can achieve great things. This has been shown by our actions in the past and will be in the future. You are encouraged to get involved and if you like what you see and encounter, tell a friend about what we do. Spread the word! This takes a team effort to accomplish this and if each of us talks to someone and invites them to attend one of our events, maybe we can break the thought of being the best kept secret. Everything starts from a positive experience and grows from there. Be a part of something special and help our Shrine to grow.
